Ques:- A man while going dowm in a escalator(which is miving down) takes 50 steps to reach down and while going up takes 125 steps. If he goes 5 times faster upwards than downwards. What will be the total no of steps if the escalator werent moving.
Recent Answer : Added by Admin On 2020-05-17 12:02:27:

let A goes up and B comes down.
assume A takes 1 step in 1sec.
hence,B takes 5 steps in 1sec.
50 steps ll be moved by A in 50/1=50secs
125 steps ll be moved by B in 125/5=25 secs
hence speed of escalator=(difference of no of
steps)/(difference of time)
speed=(125-50)/(50-25)= 3 steps/sec
hence during upward journey of 50secs by A,total steps=50 by
A and 150 by escalator..total=150+50=200
during downward journey of 25 secs by B,total steps=125 by B
and 75 by escalator..total=125+75=200steps.
ANS:200 steps

Ques:- Two pipes function simultaneously the reservoir will be filled in 12 hours. One pipe fills reservoir 10 hours faster than the other. How many hours does the faster pipe take to fill the reservoir?
Recent Answer : Added by Manik rattan On 2021-08-16 06:56:14:

suppose
pipe:
A -30 hours A’s effeciency (60/30) =2
60( lcm of 30 and 20)
B- 20 hours B’s effeciency (60/20)=3

time taken by both to fill = 60/5 =12 as given in question (effeciencies of both a+b =2+3=5)
time taken by faster pipe i.e b = 60/3 =20
